The Netherlands, on the other hand, couldn't make it to the last four after finishing second behind Italy in League A Group 1, with the European champions qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition. The Oranje have played two international fixtures this year. In the two friendlies against Denmark and Germany in March, Louis Van Gaal's side won the first match 4-2 and drew 1-1 with the latter, respectively. Both teams, who share an old rivalry, have played out 1-1 draws in their last two friendlies. But the old foes haven't met each other in a competitive fixture since the 1998 World Cup, where they played a goalless stalemate in the group stage.
